my definitely not pinterest-worthy bullet journal

i have never been a planner girl, but have always coveted those who are. the ones whose planners are filled with color coded handwriting, beautiful doodles, and neat, tidy to do lists. every year, i buy the new "it" planner, use it for approximately three and a half weeks, then it collects dust somewhere in my room for a few months, and the cycle continues until i buy the next "it" planner. same with journaling. i love to write (obviously) but being consistent with writing down what happened during the day was something just doesn't happen at the end of my day.

i started seeing bullet journal pins on pinterest, and was intrigued. if you haven't heard of bullet journaling, the idea behind it is you start with a blank journal, and set up your own planner. there's a thousand different ideas out there for weekly and monthly layouts, different ways to track your habits, or goals, and room for creativity and reflection. the concept seemed like it could give me the flexibility to make the journal what i wanted it to be, and could help me stay organized in a way that made sense for me. i will say, i was slightly intimidated, as most of the inspiration i saw had crisp, clean lines, beautiful handlettering, and colorful doodles. mine is definitely less beautiful and more functional, complete with smeared ink, messed up lines, and sloppy cursive. but it's all mine, and i would love to share a piece of it with you.

this is the journal i use, i like that it has an index and the pages are already numbered for you. it makes it easier to keep track of where everything is in your journal.

here is what my monthly layout looks like for march. i'll tag sites where i got inspiration from below the picture!

month bullet journal
last month, i had separate pages for goals, habit trackers, and my monthly spread. i didn't use my habit tracker very consistently, so this month i'm trying to condense my pages

last month, i tracked my workouts within my weekly pages, but i realized it was getting too crowded along with my tasks and events. i want to keep track of my progress and see how much stronger i get.
this is my weekly layout- super simple and i have no idea where i saw it first... if this idea is yours let me know! i love it! i put my events in the top section, my tasks on the bottom, and keep track of my water intake in the boxes (each box is eight ounces). this has been by far the simplest lay out i've tried, and has kept me the most consistent!

here's a picture of a full week from february

as you can see above, i need to get a ruler instead of using a bottle opener from our junk drawer to make my lines. it's far from perfect, but it's simple and easy to use. this has been by far the most consistent system i have used in years, and i am loving how organized i feel! let me know if you have any other questions, or check out my bullet journal pinterest board!

love,
laura
